Cosmetic Dentistry

From simple changes to major repairs, at Sarkis Dental Clinic we use the latest techniques and dental materials to perform a variety of procedures to help you make the most of your smile. We offer many options to treat teeth that are discoloured, chipped, or missing. We can reshape your teeth, close spaces, restore worn or short teeth or alter the length of your teeth. Common procedures include bleaching (Whitening), bonding, crowns, veneers and contouring.

Bleaching is a chemical process used to whiten teeth. Some choose to get their teeth whitened to make stains disappear, while others just want a whiter shade. Discolouration occurs in the enamel and can be caused by medications, diet and smoking. Discolouration also can be genetic or due simply to the ageing of teeth.

Before recommending teeth whitening, Dr. Sarkis will check your teeth shade to make sure that you are going to benefit from the procedure with a satisfactory outcome. This take home treatment usually requires around two weeks to show results with the patient using using custom made trays for one hour daily.

Bonding is the use of tooth-coloured materials to fill in cavities or to change the colour of teeth. When teeth are chipped or decayed, bonded composite resins may be the material of choice. Additionally, it can be used to close spaces between teeth or to cover the entire outside surface of a tooth to change its colour and shape.

Crowns, also known as caps, cover a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and appearance. Crowns may be required when the remaining tooth structure is weak and susceptible to breakage, this is common after root canal treatment. Crowns may also be required as a part of a bridge to replace missing teeth.

Veneers are thin layers of porcelain or composite placed over the front teeth to change their colour or shape. Veneers are used on teeth with uneven surfaces or are chipped, discoloured, oddly shaped, unevenly spaced or crooked.
